The swallow motif has been a consistent motif in Alexander McQueen since the late designer’s very first collection, 1995’s The Birds’.

The swallow features prominently in the relaunch of the McQ line,  announced earlier this month with a capsule collection for men and women. The artist Tom Tosseyn has combined the bird motif and the word ‘swallow’ into a single design with dark, gothic undercurrents.

A statement for the McQ notes “The swallow emblem is not lost but takes another form, re- designed by artist Tom Tosseyn, it has evolved with skull-like eyes and a sharply pointed body that flies defiantly across lambs wool knits, tees and shirts.”
